Disbelief And Shock
Note to Lucinda: I don't know whether you
or anyone else will ever read this. A lot of stuff has gone down since
it was written back in 1954. As I told you before we left, dig around
underneath your old swing set if we come up missing. Of course, I was
joking at the time. This accounting will give you a pretty good idea as
to what has happened to us.
To Lucinda and anyone else reading this
account, here is what happened. In 2010, we lived in NM, not far from
Los Alamos. The weather was hot for mid-March. But as crazy as things
were getting in the world, anything could happen and anything was
happening. In 2010, the world was coming to an end. There were limited
nuke exchanges. The value of money was zero. The only thing of value was
food. My wife, son, and I decided if we were going to die, we wanted to
be around family. So we rented a truck for a few bags of rice and beans.
The weather would change on a dime. It could be snowing blizzard-like
and ten minutes later the weather could go to 110 degrees. Millions of
people crossed the border from Mexico into the U.S. looking for food. To
say there was starvation would be an understatement. The night before we
left I was out in the backyard praying. I looked up at the starry sky
and saw three stars fall from the sky. That was it. I went in the house
and told Deanna and Orson we were going home if we could get there.
Earthquakes were destroying the highways so getting from one part of the
country to another part was tough to do. We worked all day and all night
getting everything in the rental truck. We brought everything we thought
was valuable. A lot of stuff we left in the house because it wouldn't
fit and it wouldn't help us survive. We left on March 19, 2010.
We drove about 5 miles and hit a black
cloud. Black clouds were now common. No one knew what caused them but
everyone drove with their headlights on because when you hit a black
cloud, you needed your headlights to see the road. The black clouds
hovered over the earth in every location. The clouds weren't very big
but they were a nuisance. Anyway, we hit one. But something happened. We
had the lights on but everything went so dark we couldn't see the road
or anything else. Orson was driving. He pulled to a stop and waited a
few minutes thinking the cloud would lift or pass by. Eventually, we got
enough light from the headlights we could at least see the pavement in
the road. Orson drove the truck a few hundred yards and we came out of
the cloud but we were not in New Mexico when we left the cloud. We were
in Indiana. I knew we were in Indiana because I had traveled the road we
were on hundreds of times. We were on old U.S. 31 going north toward
Indianapolis. The road was filled with antique cars and trucks from the
1940's and early 1950's. We didn't see a modern car or truck anywhere. I
also noticed a lot of buildings were not there anymore. Something was
wrong. We were approaching the town of Whiteland and there was a new
grocery store being built. The problem was this store was built in the
early 1950's, not in the year 2010. I told Orson to pull over at a gas
station whenever possible. I tell you, even the gas stations looked like
they came out of the late 1940's or early 1950's. We found a gas station
that also sold groceries. So I got out of the truck and walked inside
the place. I looked over at a newspaper on a rack and the headlines gave
me a shock. The newspaper headline from The Indianapolis Times said
"Bill Vukovich Wins 500" and date of the newspaper was
Tuesday, June 1, 1954. Somehow or another, we had gone back in time. I
went back to the truck. We had a problem and a half. If we were in 1954,
our truck looked like it was from the future. Another problem was our
money. Our money was all dated fifty years or more in the future. Our
money was as worthless in 1954 as it was in 2010!
We were thirty miles or less from my
parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and my other loved ones.
Another problem was most of them were younger and I was. In 1954 I was
ten years old. There was now two of me. There was a young boy of 10 and
an old guy of 66. At the age of 66, I was older then my parents in 1954.
We talked about all the problems we were facing and my wife and Orson
were as stunned and perplexed as I was. We sat there and talked for
awhile, trying to take in what had happened to us. I decided we should
go see Aunt Millie. Millie only lived a few miles away. Millie lived in
a little house at Hartson Corner. She worked at the Hartson Corner
Grocery And Hardware Store owned by her brother. Of all the people I
have ever known, Aunt Millie was the calmest. Of all the people I could
ever talk to, to tell who I was and what had happened to us, she was the
But would she believe me? Would she
understand? Would she know who I was without me having to tell her much?
Would I be able to handle the emotion? Aunt Millie and I were as
emotionally close to each other as a grandparent and a grandchild. We
were both born on Feb. 20. Millie was born in 1900, I was born 44 years
later. We needed to buy some gasoline but we had no money dated 1954 or
earlier. We started praying our going to see Aunt Millie would not stir
So many questions filled our minds. Why
did this happen? Did someone do this to us? Were we sent back in time by
accident? Did God send us back in time? Were we here in 1954 on a
permanent basis? How do we get back to 2010? Do we even want to go back
to 2010 considering the end of the world appears to be drawing near? Is
there a way to communicate to friends and family we have left behind in
2010? Orson started the truck and we were off to see Aunt Millie.
Orson drove the few miles to Hartson
Corner and pulled the truck alongside the grocery and hardware store. I
took a deep breath and got out of the truck. I had not seen my beloved
aunt for over forty years. The last time I saw her she was in a nursing
home and she would not live much longer. I remember how broken I felt
the last time I saw her. But that was then and this is now. The problem
is, in 1954, I know the future, or do I? I walked into the store from a
side door and made an immediate turn to the right going into the
hardware section. I had been in this place many times as a child. I had
spent at least one week every summer at Hartson Corner. I could not
believe I was here in this time and in this place. The hardware section
was always poorly lit. I walked to the back of the store and then turned
left. Aunt Millie worked in the meat department of the grocery store
section which was now directly in front of me. I saw Aunt Millie
directly in front of me as she was standing in back of the meat case.
She looked up and saw me. I smiled, and at first she smiled back, but
then she got this strange look on her face. She knew me. She had held me
on here lap as an infant. We had spent ten birthdays and many other days
together for ten years, but I was not a boy of ten years as she would
expect. I was older than Aunt Millie! We stood there for a moment
staring at each other and I finally said to Aunt Millie, "Aunt
Millie, something strange has happened. I need to talk with you at your
house." She knew me. She knew the facial scars I had and why I had
them. She knew me, but she still could not believe what she was seeing.
Aunt Millie said "OK, I'll be home in a minute." It was about
11:30 in the morning. Aunt Millie always went home for lunch because she
only lived a few hundred feet from the store.
I turned and walked out of the store by
the side door from whence I came. I did not want anyone else seeing me
for fear they would recognize me. I went to the truck and told Orson and
Deanna to follow me to Aunt Millie's house. Aunt Millie's house was
incredibly small. Her house had been a Quarter Master's house at Addison
Army Base located a few miles away. After World War II, much of Addison
was shut down and some of the Quarter Master houses were auctioned off
and moved elsewhere. Millie's house was a one bedroom home, with a small
bedroom, small living room, small kitchen, and a half bath. Orson,
Deanna, and I walked over to Millie's house and sat on the edge of her
front porch. One hour ago we had been in New Mexico. Now we were in
Indiana fifty-six years in the past. The three of us were in shock. In a
few minutes, Aunt Millie walked up the sidewalk that went from the store
to her little house. She tried to smile but she was clearly distressed.
The three of us stood up as she approached. I have never greeted Aunt
Millie without a hug but this time there was no hug. She invited us in
and we walked into her small living room. Even at the age of 54. she
looked so much younger than I ever remembered.
We sat down in her living room. I fumbled
for words. Finally, I said, "Millie, I am who you think I am. I
don't know who, why, or how, but my wife, my son, and I have been sent
back into the past which is your present. We have been sent back from
the year 2010. I cannot explain it. I am Amos. You and I were born on
the same date on the calendar except you were born in 1900 and I was
born in 1944. I know this is hard to believe, but we do not know where
to go, what to do, or even what to think. The world we came from was
worse than awful. The world we came from was coming apart at the seams.
The United States of America was a sinful nation. There were many good
people but sinful people had become leaders of the nation and the world.
The value of our money had gone to zero. There were riots in every city,
earthquakes everywhere, tidal waves, tornados, volcanic eruptions, and
stars falling from the sky. We were in New Mexico and all of a sudden we
were over on U.S. 31. I cannot explain it. We do not know what to
do." Aunt Millie said, "I can't believe it, but I know who you
are. You are my Amos." When Aunt Millie said "You are my
Amos" I could not hold back my emotion. My eyes filled with tears
and I wept. I had not seen her for over forty years but she had seen me
as a boy only a few days before. I recall the letter I received about
her passing in 1970. I spoke and said, "Millie, I want to see my
family members who came before me. I have not seen most of them for
decades. I outlived all of them except for one." Millie spoke
softly and said, "I don't think you should do that. It would upset
them to see you as a boy and as an older man at the same time. Our
family can keep a secret. But this…" I knew what Millie was
saying. But my heart was torn out of me not being able to go a few miles
to see people I had loved and who had passed on.
Aunt Millie said, "I am going to
call John Rudesall. He worked on some kind of secret project in the war.
He may be able to help you." Aunt Millie went to the phone and
called John Rudesall. Since John only lived a few miles away, he was
there within minutes. John came to Millie's front door and she invited
John in. John knew about me as a boy but had never seen me. Millie said,
"John, we think these people were part of some kind of secret
government program that relocated them here without their knowledge.
They have knowledge about the future normal people do not have. Who do
you think they should talk to?" Millie and John knew each other.
John knew Millie did not make things up. John spoke and said,
"These people should go to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in
Dayton. If anyone knows or if anyone can find out what is going on in
terms of top secret programs the people at Wright Patterson are the
folks." Millie said, "Thank you, John." Millie ushered
John to the door and thanked him again.
Millie sat down and looked at me. Millie
said, "I know you want to see your family. I cannot imagine the
pain you must be feeling. But think about the trouble it would cause if
you did see them. Think about the questions they would ask. Think about
the pain you would feel by seeing them again after you have lost them.
You know their future. You know my future. If you are going to tamper
with the future, you could hurt them and hurt yourself in ways you do
not know." Millie was right. John was right. We needed to head over
to Dayton. We all stood up, I hugged Aunt Millie for the last time, and
told her how much I loved her.
We left Aunt Millie's house and went to
the truck. There were five or six people standing around looking at the
truck since (in 1954) no one had seen any truck like this before (The
truck was a 2004 model). As we approached the truck and got in, people
started asking questions. I just said, "Truck is experimental"
hoping to get rid of the questions as quickly as possible.
We drove away and made our way across the
back roads of Indiana and Ohio to the city of Dayton. We tried to stay
on back roads so as not to draw attention to the truck. Eventually, we
made our way to the main gate at Wright Patterson. We pulled off to the
side of the base entry area, and I got out of the truck and walked to
the main gate. I spoke to an MP and said I needed to speak to the base
commander. The MP looks at the truck and doesn't say anything. He just
goes into his little shack, makes a phone call, and then about 20 MP's,
all armed, show up in jeeps. One of the MP's gets out of a jeep and says
to me, "We will escort you and your passengers to a secure area.
Get in your vehicle and follow us." So I go to the truck, get in,
and we followed the MP in his lead jeep. We were then followed by all
the other MP's in the other jeeps. We drove for about a mile on the base
and we were directed into a hanger far removed from any other building.
The doors on the hangar closed and we were directed to get out of the
truck. Inside the hanger, the lead MP said, "Have a seat in the
office against the wall."
We waited in the office for about forty
minutes then an Air Force General and a chaplain show up. I stood up and
introduced myself, my son, and my wife. We all sat down again, and I
said, "I am going to tell you something you would not believe. A
few hours ago, we were in New Mexico. We hit a dark cloud of some kind
on the ground, and the next thing I know we are in Indiana." The AF
General then says "What year are you from?" I was stunned. How
could he know we were from another time? So I asked him, "How did
you know we were from another time, except by looking at our futuristic
truck?" The AF General says, "There are others. There are
others like you who have been sent back. At this point, we think you
were selected. We do not think this is some kind of random accident or
random event. Can you tell me about your religious life?" I spoke
and said I was a devout Christian. I believed in the second coming of
Christ. I had come to believe the world was about to end in the year I
was in before we were sent back. The chaplain said "The others have
a similar belief system. We are still investigating and collecting
information. The patterns we are seeing are quite similar. All the
transferees we have made contact with have come from the era of
2009-2011. They all tell the same basic story of being taken from one
time in history back our present year of 1954. All of the transferees
have appeared for various reasons at a military base which we find
highly unusual. All of the others we can find have been brought here for
processing and debriefing. One trait among all the transferees is their
use of the word 'sin' in describing the world of the future. Can you
tell me why you think the word 'sin' appears so frequently in
descriptions of the future from people who have seen and lived in the
future?" I replied, "Sin has always been a part of the human
fabric. However, it seems people became more and more complacent about
sinful acts. I am 66 so I remember the 1950's. I remember 1954 or parts
of it. I do not remember seeing the images, hearing the language, and
being cognizant of the sinful behaviors people show in the year we came
from." Deana spoke up and said, "In 2010, abortions were not
only legal, they were accepted and too often encouraged. Millions of
babies were aborted. Old persons were murdered in nursing homes to make
room for others. When food ran scarce there was no cooperation to grow
more. There was only raping, pillaging, and looting." Orson spoke
and said, "The government of the United States started taking away
personal freedom, banned prayer in public gatherings including schools,
and pushed the U.S. government into so much debt, generations in the
future will be paying off the debt if there is a future. In 2010, some
people were beginning to wake up, but most people were content to live
off government aid of some kind. Even large corporations were living off
government aid. Then everything crashed because of so much sin,
government debt, and laziness."
I then asked the big question, "Why
are we here in 1954? The AF General replied, "We are not sure. As
you know from your history, we are in a nuclear arms race with Russia.
Our priority as a nation and as a nuclear power is the utmost defense of
our nation. Since we have debriefed other transferees, we are more and
more convinced you have been sent back as messengers. We see a strategic
advantage in knowing the future. However, we do not know if your future
in your previous timeline will be the same future we will experience in
our timeline. The future has already been altered by your being here.
One of the major events we are looking at is the assassination of a
future President. We are aware an assassination took place in 1963 in
your timeline. We wish to prevent such an event. To be more specific
about why you are here in 1954, we think your mission might be that of
being a messenger in religious life. How all the transferees ended up
going to military bases, we do not know."
Deanna asked about contacting family. The
General said, "Any contact with family in this timeline is
forbidden. Your being here must remain above top secret. To contact your
family in your timeline, will require someone to bury a time capsule
with a designated opening date after your transfer out of your timeline
in 2010. You can put anything in the time capsule you want, except any
information about the U.S. military, U.S. operations related to your
transfer, and any information that might jeopardize the security of the
U.S.A. Any information you put in a time capsule will be reviewed by our
staff. We can guarantee any persons you wish to make contact with in
your timeline who are still living will be contacted in the future at
the hour, day, and year of your choosing. We guarantee to notify the
person or persons of your choosing of the existence of the time
capsule." I spoke up and said, "I have a cousin named Lucinda
Talikson who lives in Greenway, IN. Before we left New Mexico, I
jokingly instructed Lucinda where to look for a time capsule if we
vanished. I have been having visions or messages coming to me about a
transfer back into the past for several months."
Orson asked, "We all have college
degrees. I graduated with honors from a major university in the
Southwest. Our problem now is that our degrees were earned in the future
from 1954. Does this mean we will have to go back to college
again?" The General smiled and said, "No. You will not have to
go back to college again. We will give you new identities with new
degrees with dates appropriate to our timeline. Please understand, we
are all in uncharted water on this. We will guarantee you jobs, housing,
food, medical care, etc. for as long as you live. However, our guarantee
of jobs, housing, food, medical care, etc. comes with the stipulation
you live on a military installation. You will be monitored day and
night. You will be monitored day and night not just for the security of
the U.S. but for your security. If the Russians are intercepting
transferees, they are aware of whatever advantage we have in terms of
looking into the future. If the Russians are aware of people being
transferred, you could be kidnapped by the Russians if they ever found
out who you are."
The General spoke and said, "There
is another matter I want to address with you but first a question. 'What
do you have in the truck?'" I replied, "We brought all of our
household belongings, food, appliances, just about everything we
considered essential to survive." The General then asked, "Do
you have any computational devices?" Orson asked, "Do you mean
computers?" The General said, "Yes, I meant computers."
Orson said, "Yes, we have several computers. Just about everything
electronic, even the electronics in the truck is computerized." The
General said, "We have a keen interest in your electronics."
To which I said, "Orson is a guru when it comes to computers. We
likely have the most modern electronics as of 2009 in the truck."
The General replied, "If that is the case, our team of scientists
will be working with you for quite some time in the future."
Three Months Later
They moved us into a new home. It has all
the latest conveniences, so to speak, if you like the latest in 1954. We
got to keep our major appliances that were transferred with us in the
truck but we have to keep those in a separate area of the house without
any windows. All our modern appliances and electronics are continually
being dissected. Every day we meet with someone who debriefs us wanting
to know what we remember about what happened after 1954. I can tell they
have talked with others from our timeline because they bring up facts
about the future after 1954 we did not tell them. In a few weeks we get
to meet others who were transferred back in time. From the debriefing
sessions, I am sure our house is bugged. The three of us communicate
private matters via our computer screens. Then we delete the messages or
turn the computer off without saving to a file name.
We miss family and friends. We have met
new people. We attend church and Bible study. We are escorted everywhere
we go. We get to watch the old black and white television programs on
our 2000 era digital televisions.
The chaplain is a gem. We have talked
many hours about the need for all persons to accept Christ. He has
changed his views about the need for repentance and the corrosive power
of sin. As we talk, he is beginning to see how sin corrupts a person,
then a nation, then a world. He is incredulous our previous timeline
became so full of sin. He was disbelieving about how the denial of sin's
destructive power led to the destruction of his country. He was shocked
at how the industrious human spirit of the 1950's had turned into
laziness and dependence of our citizens upon the government. He could
not believe so many Americans had turned to the government to fix just
about all problems and serve so many human needs in the future.
Note to Lucinda: The other documents in
the time capsule give you information so you can call our loved ones in
your time of 2010 and tell them what happened.

sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (KJV)
