Thursday's Daily Devotional About confidence in our
abilities… Hebrews 10:22 let us draw
near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed
with pure water. (NIV) Some persons want God to take
care of everything so they do not have to do anything themselves. This kind of
relationship with God is not based upon trust but upon weakening dependence.
This weakening dependence is a way of shirking ones responsibility to be and do
all God wants one to do and be. God needs you to be strong enough to do His
work. God wants you to be His person while you are alive here on earth. We must
learn to feel confident in our own abilities. We must learn to have a healthy
trust in a relationship whether the relationship is with God or with others. If
we do not feel confident in our abilities, we will want God to do for us what we
can do for ourselves. Wanting God to do what we can do creates a circumstance
where we will eventually be disappointed in God. Consequently, in our
selfishness and ego, we put our own agenda in life ahead of the agenda God has
for us. We can all reach our true destination ordained by God. We can all reach
His destination for us if we would reach out more fully, trust more deeply, and
take chances when we do His work. When we reach His destination for us by doing
His will, good things happen for us, for others, and for Him.
