Previous Daily Devotional About
prayer and praying, Part 4 of 5 1
Timothy 2:8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger
or disputing. (NIV) We
often stumble forward in erroneous directions rather than walking upright toward
our destination. Nevertheless, God is with us and when we talk with Him in
prayer we can find His guidance and direction. Life
demands we be responsible. Such a weight we must carry in these troubled days!
Prayer time is a time we can take our burdens to God. None of us is strong
enough to carry our burdens alone, yet we are alone, until we come to God in
prayer. For
our life to be more productive, we must be deeply rooted in the ground.
Otherwise we will be blown over by the slightest breeze. Prayer gives us a way
of sinking our roots deep into the ground. Prayer gives us a way of absorbing
the living water of God so we are nourished and replenished. A deeply rooted
tree produced by prayer can produce good fruit. A deeply rooted tree produced by
prayer can produce strong branches. Everyday
we use up valuable inner resources. Prayer time is a time we can replenish and
restore what we have used up. The more we must produce in our daily living, the
greater need we have to be replenished and restored. In prayer, we find in God's
care a replenishing power flowing down into our heart and soul. Our personal
experience in every facet of life demonstrates to us how much we need a prayer
time with God each day. To
give our all requires we possess more than our all to give. All of us need the
touch of the infinite pouring down into our soul in order to give more than we
possess. |
