Previous Daily Devotional About
prayer and praying, Part 1 of 5 Philipianss
4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (NIV) Our
dark moments of personal distress are the times in which we must pray. Prayer
is a time when we grope around in the dark toward a more enriching personal
communion with God who is the light. There
is nothing more deeply intimate than when a human being reaches down into the
depth of his or her soul and prays to God. When
we speak the words, "Spirit of God, descend upon my heart." we surely
touch the divine, even when we may not be aware of the divine touching us. We
must all pray ourselves. We can have others pray for us. We may
have others pray for us. However, our contact with God through prayer is ours
alone to make. Souls
have been praying since the beginning. Souls have been reaching up in times of
plenty and poverty to make contact with God.
